Hello, my name is Megann and I am a kindergarten teacher in a large suburb right outside of Kansas City. This is my third year teaching, and my first year in my current district. I have taught kindergarten and first grade, and my heart lies deeply in kindergarten!
Not only am I a kindergarten teacher by day, I am a full time graduate student working towards a degree in curriculum and instruction. I am working hard to find techniques, tips and tools to help better my students and set them up to be life long leaders and learners.
Why do this?
- Because I want to express myself in a way that could help other young and busy teachers like myself.
- I want to share what I am working on with others.
- I want to build a community of supporters because all teachers need others to help them succeed and feel supported.
A little about my current class:
- I have twelve boys and six girls in my classroom
- I teach at a title one school in our district
- My school is a Lighthouse school for the Leader in Me Program
- I have one student who does not speak english
- I have three students who we are working on behavior strategies with
- I have three students with receive speech services
- I LOVE each one of them!
My days are not always easy, but I do have an amazing team who rallies behind me each day, a great administrator who supports our kiddos, and a great district that wants to help our students become successful as learners and leaders.
I look forward to sharing my tips, tricks and stories about my classroom. Again, it takes a village to teach, so welcome to my village.
